Columbia Trail: High Bridge to the mile-one area
High Bridge
About2miles main return plus parking walk · Out and back
Compacted quarry-dust rail trail with road interfaces.
Begin at the public Commons parking area, cross Main Street on foot and follow the former railway out of High Bridge. This short return samples the Columbia Trail without committing to the full Hunterdon County corridor or continuing into Morris County. The county describes its rail-trail as wide and relatively flat along the mountainside.
Dorbrook: East Loop around the fields
Colts Neck
About1.3miles total plus unmeasured parking walk · Loop
Paved East Loop on the dated county map; walk the lot approach.
Choose the East Loop on the county's Dorbrook brochure map. This is a lap around the farmed fields and athletic facilities on the north side of Route 537. It leaves out the West Loop, the natural-surface Egret Path and all facilities across the highway.
Landsdown Trail — Clinton designated trail stalls: short bicycle return
Clinton
Up to 2 miles return · Out-and-back
Compacted quarry dust rail-trail; not paved or the rocky Capoolong continuation
Follow the signed main path south along the improved former-rail Landsdown main trail. Turn after 1 outward mile or before the first public-road crossing, work barrier, uncertain continuation or uncomfortable transition, whichever comes first; retrace. Walk any initial lot or access-drive interface. Do not use a road or private-property detour.
Liberty State Park: short paved Hudson waterfront return
Jersey City
Up to 2 miles return · Out and back
Paved waterfront park paths
Walk from legal designated visitor parking to the signed bicycle-permitted waterfront path. Ride south up to one mile and retrace, turning before a closure, ferry-only area or pedestrian restriction.
Loantaka Brook: South Street to the first woodland bridge
Morris Township
About0.8mile main return plus parking walk · Out and back
Paved Yellow bicycle path with a short bridge.
This short Loantaka outing begins beside the South Street ballfields, follows the designated Yellow path into the woods and returns near the first brook bridge. It offers a modest distance and a straightforward way back to the same parking area. The current county profile describes the greenway as flat and suitable for cycling.
Union Transportation — Millstream head: short bicycle return
Upper Freehold
Up to 4 miles return · Out-and-back
Improved gravel main rail-trail; firm dry tread only
Follow the signed main path north toward Jonathan Holmes Road. Turn after 2 outward miles or before the first public-road crossing, work barrier, uncertain continuation or uncomfortable transition, whichever comes first; retrace. Walk any initial lot or access-drive interface. Do not use a road or private-property detour.
