Start here
Use Pulaski Pike Trailhead, 6946 Pulaski Pike NW, Huntsville, AL 35810. Choose the designated lot east of Pulaski Pike, then walk your bicycle from your parking space to the paved greenway. This outing begins on that side of the road; no ride along or crossing of Pulaski Pike is included. Spragins Hollow is a different trailhead serving the natural trails. Address-based directions, manager map.
The ride
Follow the paved greenway from the trailhead through the fields. A pavilion near the start provides a place to pause. Stay on the paved path at any field or service-track junctions, and check for vehicles at access points. Where the pavement ends and the natural-surface Wade Mtn Greenway Trail begins, turn around and follow the same pavement back to the lot. The manager describes two benches at this transition.
Allow about 1.7 miles for the return outing, plus the walk from your parking space. That estimate doubles the Land Trust’s 0.87-mile paved-section description. The City rounds this section to one mile; its additional unpaved hiking mileage is outside this ride. Use the manager map for orientation.
Before you go
Plan a daylight visit and follow posted hours. City parks generally open one hour before sunrise and close one hour after sunset unless otherwise posted; Land Trust preserve trails operate dawn to dusk. The City lists greenways among its free recreation resources, and Land Trust preserves have no access fee. Pavilion rentals are separate. Park only in designated spaces. This entry covers traditional bicycles; e-bike eligibility remains unconfirmed. City rules, Land Trust rules, City free recreation resources, Land Trust access information.
Access information checked October 10, 2026: no notice closing this paved greenway was found in the reviewed City and Land Trust information. The canceled October 10 guided hike started at Spragins Hollow and was canceled because of another event; that notice does not close this paved outing. This was a desktop review. Check the City route page and preserve information, and follow any on-site closures.
Weather-rule clarification, October 20, 2026: the Land Trust asks visitors to stay off wet preserve trails for at least 24 hours after rainfall, and longer while the surface remains muddy. Respect posted weather closures at the trailhead. This paved-only outing does not authorize continuing onto the wet natural preserve trail. This rule review does not refresh the October 10 closure check above.
