Stevens Creek: paved Whisman Park return

California · Greenway

Walk to the signed Stevens Creek Trail connection from Whisman Park. Follow the main paved trail north toward Highway 101 for up to half a mile, turning before any work control, flooded underpass, street crossing or uncomfortable bridge ramp. Return on the same path.

Access note. 15 MPH MAXIMUM; yield to other users. Northern Stevens Creek/Song Sparrow Spur has levee-work closures and delivery interruptions, with November only an expected work period, not proof of reopening. This short Whisman return is south of that area. Turn at flooded underpasses or any barrier.

The city explicitly permits bicycles with a 15 mph limit, and the trail partner documents the paved urban course and Whisman connection. Northernmost Stevens Creek and Song Sparrow Spur access is affected by Pond A2W levee work; Bay Trail hauling controls are separate. This short urban return does not reach those northern pond sections or use unpaved bay levees.

Conservative selected distance cap; turn at half the listed return distance or earlier. Not a GPS measurement; parking walks are extra. Parking walks are extra.

Surface and effort

Paved designated shared bicycle path. Local slopes, curves and path approaches may require effort. No surveyed maximum grade; turn before an uncomfortable hill or transition.

Yield to walkers, slow for blind bends and stop at every street, driveway and parking crossing. Wet boardwalks, loose gravel, flooding, debris and ice can change suitability. Turn back rather than bypass a closure or enter motor traffic.

Hours, costs and access

City trails open 6 a.m. to half an hour after sunset; use daylight and actual park controls. No ordinary trail-use fee established in the reviewed profile; events and reserved facilities are separate.

Reviewed November 7, 2026. Public path access and bicycle use are supported by the cited sources. No same-day condition clearance or universal e-bike class permission is claimed. Follow current signs and manager notices.
