Pearson Metropark — Exercise Trail loop — detailed guide

A 2.9-mile loop around the southern part of Pearson Metropark in Oregon, Ohio. The manager describes smooth, flat terrain, permits bicycles on this shared-use route, and classifies its surface as crushed stone in the trail directory. It offers a short woodland ride without needing the larger trail network. The mileage covers one circuit; reaching it from your parking space adds a short, unmeasured approach.

Use public Parking Lot 9, which the manager identifies as the Exercise Trail start. Pearson's main park address is 761 Lallendorf Road, Oregon, Ohio. Follow the park's vehicle signs and one-way directions to Lot 9 rather than treating the address as the trail entrance. Walk your bicycle from the parking area to the fitness-station start, then follow the red Exercise Trail shown on the manager map. You may ride the circuit in either direction unless posted signs direct otherwise.

The loop stays within the southern park, but it crosses Pearson Way at the western park entrances and encounters the Macomber Lodge access area. These are internal vehicle interfaces; stop, check for vehicles and obey signs. You do not need to cross Starr Avenue, enter the northern wetland trails or use the railway crossing for this outing. The orange Black Swamp and blue Wood Thrush paths are mapped as walking trails and are outside the bicycle ride.

Expect other walkers, runners and cyclists; the directory rates use as heavy. Slow down at bends and fitness stations and yield when passing. The manager's flat-terrain description is qualitative; a measured maximum slope or elevation gain is unavailable. Crushed stone can change after rain. Winter clearing is attempted, which does not guarantee a dry or snow-free surface.

Ordinary park admission is free, and normal hours are 7 a.m. until dark, subject to posted closures. Restrooms are mapped near the western picnic and sports areas, but seasonal availability is unverified. Rentals and programs have separate terms. Electric micromobility rules require designated multipurpose paths at least ten feet wide; this review has not verified the Exercise Trail's width for e-bike use.

Checked October 11, 2026: the manager's Exercise Trail profile, cycling directory, Pearson park page, whole park map, rules and current notices. The reviewed notices did not identify an Exercise Trail closure; that is not an onsite inspection. Recheck current access before publication or a visit.
