Obed River Park: mapped paved loop — detailed guide

Crossville, Tennessee · About 1.5 miles, plus the parking walk · Paved park loop
Follow the red circuit on Friends of the Trails' Obed River Park 1.5 Mile Trail map. It provides a finite park outing beside the river and around the open interior, rather than a ride on the whole Crossville Greenway. The map is dated August 9, 2024 and is linked from the partner's current trail page. It is a planning reference, not a newly surveyed bicycle track.
Enter Obed River Park from West Avenue/Highway 70 via Obed River Park Drive. The partner describes a gravel parking area about 0.2 mile inside and gives 35.973617, -85.044277 as a trailhead reference. The map marks parking on the river side of the park drive and another parking facility by the recreation area. Use a currently signed public visitor space and walk your bicycle to the mapped circuit. These coordinates do not identify a surveyed stall or certified accessible entrance. If access is restricted, do not substitute private parking, the highway shoulder or an informal riverbank start.
Use the red line to follow the paved circuit through the riverbank and interior park sections, returning to the same start. Consult the map at junctions and stay on the paved park route. Walk across Obed River Park Drive and any parking or vehicle interface you encounter, looking both ways and yielding. The map shows an internal drive crossing; this guide does not promise a crossing-free outing. Do not continue onto West Avenue or follow residential streets as a detour. If the mapped line is obstructed or difficult to identify, turn back rather than guessing a connection.
The selected circuit is about 1.5 miles total, based on the named map, not 1.5 miles each way. The partner also describes a 1.7-mile paved itinerary; the county lists 2.1 miles of paved paths across the park. Those are different descriptions and are not added to this outing. The walk between your actual parking space and the circuit is additional and unmeasured.
The partner explicitly includes bicycling on the paved park paths and rates its mapped outing easy. Its longer itinerary mentions a rise near the old dam, so “easy” should not be read as perfectly level. No current measured grade or accessibility survey was established. Walk slopes or pavement that exceed your comfort. This draft covers ordinary pedal bicycles; current local e-bike classes and device rules are unconfirmed.
Keep out of the closed Charleston/Plantation dirt trail. Its overgrowth closure concerns a separate natural-surface branch; it is not proof that the mapped paved loop is closed, and it is not a usable extension. Forecast reopening dates for other Crossville trails do not establish that those connections are available.
Choose daylight and follow actual park gates, parking signs and temporary restrictions. Current trail-specific operating hours and ordinary admission or parking charges were not established in the reviewed sources. The county's shelter rental prices are not trail-entry fees. The county describes restrooms and fountains among past park improvements, but their current operation is unconfirmed; bring water and plan accordingly.
Reviewed October 17, 2026: the actual county park page, the partner's June 2026 description and the original one-page map, which was visually inspected. These sources establish the outing's scope, not today's physical condition. Check posted notices and the accessible tread before setting off.
Editorial draft complete with these limits. A fresh operating check and browser/site review remain before publication.
