New River Trail — paved return from Rio Vista

Arizona · Greenway

Walk from Rio Vista’s public trail parking to the designated New River path and use the signed Rio Vista bicycle crossing to the west bank. Follow the paved main route north for up to 2 miles, then retrace. Stay below the distant Pinnacle Peak–Happy Valley segment, whose road-bicycle classification differs, and do not enter the natural river bed.

Access note. Check city repair controls before travel. The May 2026 preservation program included parts of New River; no work-zone or traffic-road bypass is included.

Reviewed 2026-10-22. City’s published trail inventory identifies the paved shared-use river path and public Rio Vista trailhead. A May 2026 preservation notice covered New River between Northern and Greenway and two other trailhead lots. Its eight-week forecast is not used as proof that every repair finished; check current city work signs and shorten or postpone if the chosen approach is affected. This is a source review, not a same-day inspection. Recheck the linked manager before travel.

Map and Directions

Use the named public start and its posted parking signs. The map reference identifies the facility or selected trail area; it is not a surveyed parking stall or navigable route line. Bicycle and e-bike rules can differ; only ordinary bicycle use is established unless noted.
