Kenai, Alaska · Very short return, up to 0.5 mile · Firm dirt · Snow-free season

Enjoy a small outing toward the Cook Inlet overlook on the park's named Kenai Lions Club accessible trail. Leave the beach descent and the wider former-campground network for a different visit.

Start: Kenai Municipal Park, 301 South Forest Drive, Kenai. Use designated public park parking and walk the bicycle through the public park approach toward the southern picnic and sports-court area. The city locates the Lions Club trail there. Find the signed trail before riding; do not substitute a playground, basketball court or service road. The parking walk is additional and unmeasured.

Ride: follow the signed Kenai Lions Club trail toward its viewing area above Cook Inlet. Stop before the overlook platform, a closure, an unclear continuation or a quarter mile outward, whichever comes first. Retrace the same path. This gives a maximum half-mile return; the named overlook course may be considerably shorter. No official quarter-mile marker or half-mile Lions loop is claimed. The master plan's 0.5-mile figure covers the wider park trail network.

The adopted city inventory explicitly permits walking and bicycling on the Municipal Park trails and describes wide, well-packed dirt on former campground roads. The current park page separately identifies the named accessible trail. These support a short improved-path option; they do not certify a measured bicycle slope or today's firmness. Walk an uncomfortable ramp and turn back if dirt is loose, muddy or icy.

Stay on the signed improved approach and away from the bluff edge. Exclude the gully trail, North Beach access, beach sand, ballfields and any closed pavilion work area. Walk parking and vehicle interfaces. No public-road riding or beach loop is included. Yield to walkers and keep the pace slow near the lookout.

Planning: use daylight and posted park/lot terms. Exact trail hours and a separate ordinary trail fee are not published in the reviewed pages; department office hours are not park hours. Pavilion rentals are separate. Restrooms are seasonal, overnight camping is prohibited, and e-bike classes are unconfirmed. Winter plowing for walking does not guarantee ordinary bicycle conditions.

Access reviewed October 20, 2026: the city continues to list the named trail. The adopted plan distinguishes existing paths from proposed new connections and facility work. No selected-trail closure was established in the bounded review; obey current work fencing and postpone if the public approach is blocked.
