Start and parking
Start: Chaparral Park south-lake public parking, 5401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ.
The city’s Chaparral park map identifies visitor parking beside the south lake, fishing pier and South Ramada at 5401 North Hayden Road. Use those open public spaces and walk to the main Greenbelt. Event reservations, golf facilities and private residential lots do not supply alternate parking permission.

Surface and effort
Paved designated Greenbelt multi-use path; golf-cart routes and lake-only footpath spurs excluded. Urban greenbelt with underpass ramps, bridges and local rises. This is a longer outing than the separate Chaparral lake loop; shorten it to suit your energy.
Crossings and shared use
Yield to pedestrians and slow at junctions, ramps and access drives. Stop at street crossings; do not bypass a path barrier in traffic lanes. Yield to pedestrians, keep right, and slow at blind corners. Stop at barriers; never use a traffic-road detour to bypass a trail closure.
Hours, costs and access
Choose daylight and obey posted trail and parking hours. Avoid extreme heat and carry water; a mapped fountain is not a guarantee of service. Follow current public visitor-parking terms. Reserved facilities and event parking may carry separate charges.
Reviewed 2026-10-22. City’s current map distinguishes the paved multi-use Greenbelt from streets and unpaved canal banks. The Vista del Camino McDowell–Roosevelt path remains closed through the end of October under the current project notice; that southern area is excluded. This northward outing is distinct from the existing short Chaparral lake loop and is not an all-clear for the full eleven-mile Greenbelt. This is a source review, not a same-day inspection. Recheck the linked manager before travel.
Map and Directions
Use the named public start and its posted parking signs. The map reference identifies the facility or selected trail area; it is not a surveyed parking stall or navigable route line. Bicycle and e-bike rules can differ; only ordinary bicycle use is established unless noted.
