Alabama · Rail-trail

Surface and effort
Paved main rail-bed trail; bridge and tunnel transitions differ. County rates the trail in its easiest category and describes family cycling, but marks it not ADA accessible. Expect ramps and do not assume every park approach is step-free.
Crossings and shared use
Use trail tunnels and bridges; do not turn onto school sidewalks or roads to extend the ride. Walk tight, dark or crowded approaches. Yield to pedestrians, keep right, and slow at blind corners. Stop at barriers; never use a traffic-road detour to bypass a trail closure.
Hours, costs and access
Choose daylight and follow posted park and trail hours. No casual trail-use tariff established in the reviewed sources; posted parking and admission terms govern.
Reviewed 2026-10-22. The current city park and county trail listings support ordinary access. The city’s September 23–October 20 closure near the then-new City Hall was a 2024 notice; it does not establish a 2026 closure or a verified reopening. Obey any present work barriers and shorten the return. This is a source review, not a same-day inspection. Recheck the linked manager before travel.
Map and Directions
Use the named public start and its posted parking signs. The map reference identifies the facility or selected trail area; it is not a surveyed parking stall or navigable route line. Bicycle and e-bike rules can differ; only ordinary bicycle use is established unless noted.
