DNR identifies the 13-mile Waukesha-to-Dousman section as asphalt and suitable for bicycles. Its current active notices still retain the 0.7-mile Highway 67–Opengate Court closure near Dousman despite an early-November forecast; this short Waukesha outing does not reach it. The full trail includes limestone and a 1.5-mile road gap, neither part of this selected ride. Western trailhead water/flush-restroom seasonal shutdowns are separate from this start.

Yield to walkers, slow for blind bends and stop at every street, driveway and parking crossing. Wet boardwalks, loose gravel, flooding, debris and ice can change suitability. Turn back rather than bypass a closure or enter motor traffic.
