Ride about 0.8 mile through Dickens Farm Nature Area on a short paved loop from Dickens Park West Trailhead. The official featured route lists a maximum grade of 1%, a width of 8–10 feet, and 15 feet of total ascent. Cross-slope is unknown. These are published route descriptions, not a fresh survey or a guarantee of accessibility.
For the western start, use only the labeled public parking spaces north of the Harvest Junction North shopping center. The City of Longmont expressly identifies these public spaces near the shops; it does not authorize every retail parking space. Follow the signed paved park access to Dickens Park West Trailhead beside St. Vrain Creek. The trailhead point is approximately 40.153651, -105.100435; it identifies the head, not a parking stall. The city also lists the central park lot accessed from Boston Avenue and parking along Boston, but those starts have different approaches. There is no public parking near the downstream takeout east of Martin Street.
From the west trailhead, follow the paved connector over the western pedestrian bridge. At the north-side junction, take the western perimeter path north toward the Boston Avenue side of the park. Follow the paved path east around the pond, turn south on the eastern side, then follow the central paved St. Vrain Greenway path west to the same junction. Return over the same western bridge to your starting trailhead. Use the official featured-route map to recognize the loop; do not add the eastward Sandstone Ranch extension.
Stay on the paved shared path. The novice bike-skills area uses different materials and is a separate activity; nature-discovery spurs, playground paths, water-access ramps and creek crossings are not part of this outing. Slow for walkers, children, anglers and junctions. Parking entrances and approaches remain, so this guide does not promise a ride without traffic interfaces.
The official route is described as a 0.8-mile loop with its western connector. The public route geometry is approximately 0.84 mile before rounding. Movement from your parking space is additional and varies. Do not double the entire loop as though it were a one-way trail. Generalized map endpoints and a tiny unnamed snap do not establish an exact navigation track; no GPX has been stitched or supplied.
The underlying St. Vrain Greenway and the named head explicitly allow ordinary bicycles. Longmont also allows Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes on designated park sidewalks, trails and greenways. Yield to pedestrians and follow signs. Keep dogs leashed. The separate dog prohibition farther east toward Sandstone Ranch does not turn this short western loop into a dog-free trail.
Nature-area and trailhead use is normally one hour before sunrise through one hour after sunset, subject to posted changes. The continuous-movement exception for designated greenway travel does not extend parking or off-trail park hours. COTREX lists no fee at the named western head; check public-parking signs locally. Bring water. COTREX lists no water or restroom at this head, although the city map shows a restroom elsewhere in the park. The city’s explicit 2026–2027 schedule, reviewed October 17, lists Dickens Farm’s neighborhood/nature-area restrooms as closing October 16, 2026, with reopening scheduled for April 12, 2027. This replaces the older general second-Sunday-in-October estimate. Do not rely on a working flush restroom or an unlisted portable toilet for a fall or winter ride; a forecast reopening is not proof that the facility has reopened. The restroom season does not close the bicycle course.
The city’s live trail-closure inventory reviewed October 11, 2026 UTC returned one Oligarchy Greenway closure elsewhere, with no Dickens closure listed. That is a source check, not an on-site inspection. Check the current city status map and obey barriers before riding.
