Acacia Reservation — Center Pond return — detailed guide

Vehicle-arrival warning: Acacia’s lot is scheduled for periodic paving closures October 19–30. See the dated parking note below before planning a visit.

A short paved ride through restored meadowland in Lyndhurst, Ohio. Start at the trailhead kiosk near Acacia’s picnic shelter, follow Woodpecker Way north to Center Pond, then retrace your route. The manager’s 2026 route sheet gives 0.75 mile for the complete out-and-back. Parking-lot riding can add a little distance.

Use the reservation parking entrance off Cedar Road, shown beside the shelter on the manager’s March 2025 map. The trailhead page explicitly lists cycling and access to paved paths. Walk your bike between the car and the trail when the lot or kiosk area is busy. Stay on this short route rather than continuing around the full Woodpecker Way loop or following natural-surface connectors.

The manager’s accessible-route list includes this outing among paved paths with modest slopes. Its general description says slopes are usually 5% or less; that is not a surveyed maximum for every point on this ride. The reservation describes its terrain as rolling. Turn around early if a slope exceeds your comfort level.

The map shows a separated path after the parking approach, with no public-road crossing required by this selected return. Expect walkers and other cyclists. Keep right, give an audible passing warning and slow down near the pond and kiosk.

Park hours are 6 a.m.–11 p.m., subject to posted restrictions. A daylight outing makes navigation easier. The reviewed pages do not establish a parking or trail charge; fee status remains unconfirmed. Shelter reservations are separate from ordinary trail use. The map marks restrooms near the shelter, but current opening and seasonal availability have not been verified.

Parking notice checked October 17, 2026: the manager now publishes periodic vehicle closures of the Acacia parking lot for paving, Monday, October 19 through Friday, October 30. Pedestrian access is to remain available. The notice line omits a year; its weekday dates and surrounding 2026 notices support the current 2026 context. This changes the car-based arrival in this guide during the work window. Postpone that arrival while the lot is closed; no substitute business lot, street space or different bicycle approach has been approved here. A projected end date does not certify reopening. Current parking notice.

The underlying route, rules, complete 2026 route sheet and March 2025 map were reviewed October 11. That earlier alert snapshot had no Acacia-specific notice; it is superseded for parking by the October 17 review above. The accessibility page was available through the primary search index, but direct retrieval was blocked; its general slope statement remains qualified. Recheck current lot and trail signs before publication or a visit.
